Category A Course (Motorcycles)

  • Two-wheeled motor vehicles, with or without a sidecar, with an engine capacity exceeding 50 cubic centimeters (cc) and/or a design maximum speed exceeding 45 km/h – as defined in the Road Traffic Act.
  • Three-wheeled motor vehicles – vehicles with three symmetrically arranged wheels, with an engine capacity exceeding 50 cc and/or a design maximum speed exceeding 45 km/h – as defined in the Road Traffic Act.
  • A person holding a Category A driving licence is also entitled to operate vehicles in categories AM, A1, and A2.

Category A1 Course (Motorcycles)

Category A1

A person with a category "A1" license is authorized to operate:

a) Motorcycles with an engine displacement of no more than 125 cc, a maximum power of no more than 11 kW, and a power/weight ratio not exceeding 0.1 kW/kg;

b) Three-wheeled motor vehicles with a power output not exceeding 15 kW.

A person with a category "A1" license is also authorized to operate vehicles from category "AM".

By building upon the knowledge, skills, and behavior acquired for category "A1" through the appropriate training for the category and after successfully passing the corresponding exams, one can acquire the right to operate vehicles from categories "A2", "A", "B1", "B", and "T" (wheel tractor or tram motor car).

Category A2 (Motorcycles)

A person holding a Category A2 driving licence is entitled to operate motorcycles with a power output not exceeding 35 kW, and a power-to-weight ratio not exceeding 0.2 kW/kg, provided that the original (unrestricted) engine power is not more than double the restricted power.

A person with a Category A2 licence is also permitted to drive vehicles in categories A1 and AM.

Category B – A person holding a category B driving license is permitted to drive motor vehicles with a maximum authorized mass not exceeding 3,500 kg, designed and constructed to carry no more than 8 passengers in addition to the driver. Vehicles in this category may tow a trailer with a maximum authorized mass not exceeding 750 kg.

Driver’s License Course Category B1

Category B1 – A person holding a category B1 driving license is permitted to drive quadricycles classified under category L7e, which have an unladen mass not exceeding 400 kg (or 550 kg if designed for cargo transport), excluding the mass of the battery in electric vehicles. These vehicles must have a maximum net engine power not exceeding 15 kW.

Driver's Course Category BE (Trailers)

A combination of road vehicles with a towing motor vehicle from category B, with a maximum allowable mass greater than 4250 kg (The maximum allowable mass of the combination must be equal to or greater than the number specified in F3 of the vehicle's registration certificate):

Driver's Course Category C (Trucks / Heavy Goods Vehicles)

Motor vehicles, other than those in categories D1 or D, with a maximum authorised mass exceeding 3,500 kg, which are designed and constructed to carry no more than 8 passengers in addition to the driver.

Motor vehicles in this category may tow a trailer with a maximum authorised mass not exceeding 750 kg.

Driver's Course Category C+E (Trucks, Trailers)

A combination of road vehicles with a towing motor vehicle of category C and a trailer with a maximum permissible weight of over 750 kg;

Category D
Category D

Driver's License Course Category D (Buses)

Vehicles, excluding trolleybuses, designed for passenger transport, with more than 8 seats, excluding the driver's seat; a trailer with a maximum permissible mass of no more than 750 kg can be attached to them; this category also includes articulated buses; attaching a trailer to them is prohibited;

Driver's Course Category D1 (Minibuses)

A person with a driving license for category “D1” is authorized to operate vehicles designed for the transport of passengers with more than 8 seating places, excluding the driver's seat, but not exceeding 16 seating places, excluding the driver's seat. A trailer with a maximum permissible mass not exceeding 750 kg may be attached to these vehicles.
